Terms of Service
Effective: July 24, 2026 · Last updated: July 26, 2026
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern access to and use of File Words, including filewords.com, user accounts, hosted FAQ pages, hosted knowledge bases, hosted custom web tools, embed scripts, blog content, website-verification tools, and related features (collectively, the “Service”). “File Words,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to the operator of the Service. “You” refers to the person or entity using the Service.
1. Acceptance of these Terms
By accessing or using the Service, creating an account, or embedding a File Words page, you agree to these Terms and acknowledge the Privacy Policy. If you use the Service for a business or other organization, you represent that you are authorized to bind that organization, and “you” includes that organization. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Eligibility and authority
You must be legally capable of entering a binding agreement in the place where you live and at least 18 years old, or the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction if higher. The Service is not directed to children. You may use the Service only for websites and content you are authorized to manage.
3. Accounts and account security
You must provide accurate, current information and keep it updated. You are responsible for safeguarding your password, for activity performed through your account, and for notifying us promptly at support@filewords.com if you suspect unauthorized access. You may not share an account in a way that defeats access controls, impersonate another person, create accounts through deceptive means, or use automated account creation.
We may require you to reconfirm account information or website control. We may refuse, suspend, or close accounts that contain false information, create security risk, violate these Terms, or remain abandoned.
4. Website verification and backlink requirement
To create an account, the submitted public web page must contain one of the supported File Words backlink options: a visible https://filewords.com URL, the official backlink script, or a crawlable hyperlink to File Words. Each normalized verification-page URL may be registered to only one account. The backlink checker is evidence that the submitted page can publish the selected backlink; it is not a legal determination of domain ownership, trademark rights, agency, or authorization. You represent that you are authorized to submit the URL and place the backlink.
We may recheck the submitted URL automatically. If the backlink is confirmed missing, associated public FAQ pages, knowledge bases, and custom web tools will be blocked until the backlink is restored and reconfirmed. Repeated network failures may also cause a temporary block to protect the Service. You remain able to sign in and attempt reverification unless your account is separately suspended.
You may not mislead the crawler, redirect it to private networks, conceal the backlink from ordinary visitors while presenting it to the crawler, use cloaking, or interfere with verification. Verification requests must respect the submitted site’s infrastructure and applicable law.
5. Service limits
As for the blogs, text, other outputs, and articles on this site, you understand and agree that AI can make mistakes, some of the content is created and written by 3rd parties, and none of it is professional or official advice
Each account may create no more than one FAQ page, one knowledge-base page, and one custom tool of each offered type: guided decision tree, quiz, recommendation quiz, eligibility checker, checklist, and troubleshooting guide. Each page or tool, including its title, introduction, questions, choices, instructions, requirements, tasks, explanations, and results, may contain no more than 10,000 characters in total. Limits may be enforced technically and may change prospectively to protect performance, security, or sustainability.
Each account receives eight attempts to create or edit its FAQ, knowledge base, or custom tools during an active save window. Every submission made with a Save button counts, including submissions rejected by validation or content moderation. The eighth submission is processed and then editing is locked for 24 hours. Attempts made while the lock is active are not processed. You may not create or use another account to evade this limit.
The Service is offered without a subscription fee at present. We may add, remove, or change features, limits, advertising, or paid options. If a change materially affects existing use, we will provide notice when reasonably practicable.
6. Your content
You retain ownership of content you submit (“User Content”). You grant File Words a worldwide, nonexclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, format, transmit, display, and distribute User Content only as needed to operate, secure, promote, and improve the Service and to provide your public and embedded pages. This license ends when the content is deleted from active systems, subject to reasonable backup retention, legal obligations, and content independently included in logs or records.
You represent that you have all rights and permissions needed for User Content and that it is accurate to the extent customers may reasonably rely on it. You are solely responsible for reviewing your answers, policies, instructions, and claims. File Words does not approve, verify, or endorse User Content.
Before customized User Content is saved, it is submitted to automated rule-based and machine-learning moderation supplied by Sightengine. The check may identify sexual or adult content, hateful or discriminatory material, insults, toxicity, violence, self-harm, extremism, drugs, weapons, medical-drug terms, personal information, spam, suspicious money or content solicitations, and unsafe links. Flagged content is automatically rejected and is not saved as your page or tool. Moderation systems may produce false positives or false negatives, and a rejection does not make a legal or factual determination about you or your content. You may contact support@filewords.com if you believe a result requires review.
7. Acceptable use
You may not use the Service to:
- break a law, regulation, court order, contractual duty, or third-party right;
- publish unlawful, fraudulent, deceptive, defamatory, harassing, hateful, exploitative, obscene, or privacy-invasive content;
- collect, expose, or solicit passwords, payment-card data, government identifiers, health information, or other sensitive personal information through a public page, custom tool, or embed;
- distribute malware, malicious scripts, phishing content, spam, or unwanted commercial messages;
- infringe copyright, trademark, publicity, privacy, database, or other rights;
- probe, scan, disrupt, overload, reverse engineer, bypass, or compromise the Service or another system;
- circumvent character limits, page or tool limits, access controls, verification checks, content-moderation checks, save-attempt limits, rate limits, or advertising placement;
- scrape or copy the Service at scale except as allowed by robots.txt or written permission;
- use the Service for emergency instructions where delay or error could create a risk of injury, or as a substitute for qualified professional advice; or
- misrepresent that File Words sponsors, certifies, or endorses you, your website, or your content.
8. Public pages, embeds, attribution, and advertising
Published pages are public and may be indexed, cached, shared, and viewed by anyone. Embed scripts load content from File Words into a frame on your website. You are responsible for installing embeds correctly, maintaining any notices required by your own privacy policy, and ensuring your site permits the technical resources needed by the embed.
FAQ pages include the linked attribution “FAQ Made by File Words.” Knowledge-base pages include the linked attribution “Knowledgebase Made by File Words.” Custom tools include a related linked attribution naming the tool type, such as “Quiz Made by File Words” or “Checklist Made by File Words.” You may not remove, hide, cover, alter, or interfere with required attribution or advertising shown within File Words pages, tools, or embeds.
Custom tools provide general informational guidance based only on text and rules supplied by the account holder. Tool results are not binding determinations, professional advice, safety certification, product warranties, eligibility approvals, or guarantees of suitability. You are responsible for the accuracy, lawfulness, safety, fairness, and currentness of every question, rule, recommendation, requirement, instruction, and result you publish, including providing human review or escalation where appropriate.
The Service displays third-party advertising, including advertising supplied through Adsterra. Advertisers and advertising providers are responsible for their own content, destinations, data practices, and offers. We do not endorse advertised products or guarantee that ads will always be available, suitable, accurate, or free from interruption. Your interaction with an advertiser is between you and that advertiser.
9. Automated blog content and informational material
Some File Words blog articles are researched and generated with automated systems, including the OpenAI API and web search, and may receive automated validation. A displayed research-source link identifies a public URL consulted during generation; it is not an endorsement, and the source may later change. Blog content is general educational information, not legal, financial, medical, tax, safety, or other professional advice. Automated content may be incomplete or mistaken. You should evaluate information for your circumstances and obtain qualified advice when appropriate.
10. Intellectual property
Except for User Content and third-party materials, the Service, its software, design, branding, text, features, and compilation are owned by File Words or its licensors and protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. These Terms grant you a limited, revocable, nontransferable, nonexclusive right to use the Service as intended. No right is granted to use File Words names, logos, or branding except the required attribution and ordinary truthful reference to the Service.
11. Copyright and rights complaints
If you believe content on the Service infringes your rights, email support@filewords.com with: your name and contact email; identification of the protected work or right; the exact File Words URL; an explanation of the claimed infringement; a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is unauthorized; a statement that the information is accurate and that you are the rights holder or authorized to act; and your electronic signature. We may remove or restrict disputed content and may contact the account holder.
12. Feedback
If you provide suggestions or feedback, you grant us a worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free right to use it without restriction or compensation, provided we do not publicly identify you as its source without permission.
13. Third-party services
The Service depends on third parties such as hosting, database, advertising, security, and artificial-intelligence providers. Links and integrations may take you to third-party services governed by their own terms and privacy practices. We are not responsible for third-party services or for losses caused by their acts, omissions, availability, or content.
14. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the Service at any time. You may request account deletion by emailing support@filewords.com from the account email. We may investigate suspected violations; remove or restrict content; block pages; suspend features; or terminate accounts when reasonably necessary to enforce these Terms, protect users or systems, comply with law, address security risk, or discontinue the Service.
Where appropriate, we may provide notice and an opportunity to correct a violation. Immediate action may be taken for security threats, unlawful activity, abuse, or material risk. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination—including ownership, licenses already granted for operation and backups, disclaimers, liability limits, indemnity, and dispute terms—will survive.
15. Service availability and changes
We work to keep the Service available, but it may be interrupted, delayed, changed, or discontinued. We do not guarantee uptime, indexing, search-engine visibility, advertising revenue, customer-contact reductions, cost savings, sales, compatibility with every website, or preservation of every record. You should keep a copy of important content and test embeds after changing your website.
16. Disclaimers
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” FILE WORDS DISCLAIMS ALL EXPRESS, IMPLIED, AND STATUTORY WARRANTIES, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, SECURITY, AVAILABILITY, AND QUIET ENJOYMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE, CRAWLER, SEARCH, EMBEDS, ADS, OR AUTOMATED CONTENT WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, COMPLETE, SAFE, OR SUITABLE FOR YOUR PURPOSE.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain disclaimers, so parts of this section may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms excludes a warranty or right that cannot lawfully be excluded.
17. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, FILE WORDS AND ITS AFFILIATES, PERSONNEL, LICENSORS, AND SERVICE PROVIDERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES; LOST PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, GOODWILL, OR BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY; BUSINESS INTERRUPTION; COST OF SUBSTITUTE SERVICES; OR LOSSES ARISING FROM USER CONTENT, THIRD-PARTY ADS, AUTOMATED CONTENT, PAGE BLOCKING, SEARCH-ENGINE ACTION, OR UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE TOTAL LIABILITY OF FILE WORDS FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE OR THESE TERMS WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FILE WORDS FOR THE SERVICE DURING THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM OR (B) FIFTY U.S. DOLLARS (US $50).
These limits apply regardless of legal theory and even if a remedy fails of its essential purpose. They do not limit liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
18. Indemnification
To the extent permitted by law, you will defend, indemnify, and hold harmless File Words and its affiliates, personnel, licensors, and service providers from claims, damages, losses, judgments, costs, and reasonable legal fees arising from your User Content, your website, your use or misuse of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of another person’s rights. We may control the defense of a covered claim, and you will reasonably cooperate. You may not settle a claim imposing obligations on File Words without our written consent.
19. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws that lawfully apply to the File Words operator, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except to the extent mandatory consumer law requires otherwise. Before filing a formal claim, you and File Words agree to send a written description of the dispute to support@filewords.com and attempt in good faith to resolve it for at least 30 days. Any court proceeding must be brought in a court with lawful personal and subject-matter jurisdiction. Nothing in this section prevents either party from seeking urgent injunctive relief or using an eligible small-claims process.
20. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. The updated version will be posted with a revised date. If a change materially reduces your rights or increases your obligations, we will provide additional notice when reasonably practicable. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree, stop using the Service.
21. General terms
These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement about the Service and supersede prior discussions about it. If a provision is unenforceable, it will be modified only as needed to make it enforceable, and the remaining provisions remain effective. Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without our written consent; we may assign them in connection with a reorganization, transfer, or operation of the Service. Headings are for convenience. “Including” means “including without limitation.”
